Old furniture is awkward to get rid of. It won’t fit in the car, donation pickups only want pieces in good shape, and a sectional is too much for one person to drag to the curb. We come to you, carry it out and haul it away.

What furniture do you haul away?

Nearly anything you sit on, sleep on or store things in:

  • Couches, sleeper sofas, loveseats and sectionals
  • Recliners, lift chairs and office chairs
  • Bed frames, headboards, bunk beds and cribs
  • Dressers, armoires, desks, bookcases and entertainment centers
  • Dining tables, chairs, china cabinets and hutches
  • Patio sets, porch swings and outdoor furniture

What we leave behind is anything hazardous stored inside the furniture. If the old hutch in the garage is full of paint cans or bug spray, take those out first, because we don’t take paint, chemicals or fuel. Mattresses and box springs carry a disposal fee, so they have their own page: see mattress removal.

Do I have to carry it outside?

No. We load from wherever it is: the den, a back bedroom, the basement, the bonus room over the garage. A sleeper sofa wedged at the bottom of a basement stair is the same job as a loveseat by the front door; the stairs just add $25–$50. When a piece is gone, we sweep up where it stood.

Narrow doorways are worth planning for here. More than a fifth of the homes in Oconee County are mobile homes, by Census estimates, and a sectional that came in through a narrow door has to go out the same way. Send a photo of the piece and the path out, and we’ll know what we’re working with before we arrive.

What does couch removal cost?

Most couches on their own cost $95–$120. A loveseat runs $75–$95, a sectional $145–$190 and a dresser $75–$95. Those prices are for one piece. A room’s worth is priced by how much of the trailer it fills, so three or four pieces together cost less each than any one of them would alone.

Pianos are priced on their own from a photo, and most uprights run $200–$350. Every item and load price is on our pricing page. You can also text a photo to (864) 555-0142, and we confirm the price before we load anything.

Can my furniture be donated instead?

Often, if it’s clean and sturdy. When a piece is in good shape, we set it aside for donation or a resale shop’s pickup instead of sending it to the county facility.

If you’d rather drop it off or arrange a pickup yourself, two local options:

  • Oconee Habitat for Humanity ReStore, 130 Bountyland Rd in Seneca, picks up donations in Oconee County, Clemson, Central, Sunset and Six Mile. It turns down mattresses, box springs and clothing, among other things. Call (864) 888-2118.
  • Goodwill has stores at 1616 Sandifer Blvd in Seneca and 1051 Tiger Blvd in Clemson. Call ahead about large pieces.

Our guide to donating furniture around Seneca and Clemson covers what each place accepts.

Where does the rest go?

Worn-out furniture goes to the proper county facility, and metal goes to recycling. In Oconee County, the county’s construction and demolition landfill on Wells Highway lists furniture among what it accepts. Metal bed frames, glider bases and the steel legs off an old office desk go to scrap recycling instead.

Furniture removal: questions

Can you get a sleeper sofa out of a basement?

Yes. We carry it up from wherever it sits, and stairs add $25–$50. Sleepers are heavy because of the metal frame inside, so mention it when you send the photo.

Will you come out for just one chair?

Yes. A single small piece is covered by the minimum charge of $75–$95, which includes up to 2 cubic yards of trailer space, so it’s worth adding anything else you want gone.

Do you take pianos?

Yes. Pianos are priced on their own from a photo, and most uprights run $200–$350. Steps and tight turns on the way out are what move the price.

What if the couch is torn up or the frame is broken?

We take it either way. A piece in rough shape goes to the county facility instead of a donation pickup, and the price is the same because it’s based on space in the trailer.
